Houston MUDs is an independent directory built from public government data. It is not affiliated with any district, county, appraisal district or state agency.

Sources

• District list, type, county and status: TCEQ Texas Water Districts on data.texas.gov (active districts only).
• Approximate location (used only to choose a nearby city link): TCEQ water district boundaries.
• Tax rates: Texas Comptroller 2025 Special District Rates and Levies (tax year 2025, published Jan 2026).
• Official district records: TCEQ Integrated Water Utility Database (iWUD).

How rates are matched

District names differ between TCEQ and the Comptroller. We match them by county, district type and number using a name-normalization table. If a district has no confident match, no rate is shown on its page. Some newer districts do not levy a tax yet.

Corrections

Public records can lag. Always confirm with the district or the county appraisal district.
